Vocal

Junior Vocal is an expanding and popular section. Classes in songs include solo, duet and trio classes for both boys and girls in a range of age categories up to age eighteen. Folk songs, a non-competitive class and a Junior Recital class are also included. There are classes for boys for both broken and unbroken voices.

Senior Vocal for adults (age 18 plus) offers that special chance to sing with a professional accompanist and get feedback on your performance. Classes span English song, lieder, French, Italian or Spanish song, folk song, operatic arias and oratorio. Classes in ‘Songs from Musical Theatre ’ and Jazz Songs’ are also included. There is a special novice class for competitors who have not taken part in the festival before and a class for duet, trio or quartet performance. Many of the classes have cups awarded, but in addition there is a non-competitive class with adjudication only. An open Ensemble class (of any combination of up to 10 voices) has previously attracted barbershop, small chamber and school vocal groups.
