SHIRLEY STANWELL BA(Hons) English & Drama, PGCE, LLAM, LRAM Speech & Drama, LRAM Mime.
Shirley, who studied at ArtsEd and Roehampton had a career as a dancer before turning to straight theatre in the West End with Donald Wolfit, Alastair Sim, Paul Eddington and Alfred Marks. Repertory at Worthing, Wolverhampton and Plymouth was followed by four years with the Rainbow Theatre Company, touring Sussex schools, after which Shirley began teaching English and Drama in Sussex. She still writes and directs plays for her Uckfield students and has recently retired from Roedean.
