PETER CROSER LRAM, ARCM, ARAM.
Peter Croser was born in north London and though commencing his musical studies at the age of eleven, was soon active as an accompanist, soloist and composer during his early years at Latimer School, Edmonton. He was a frequent festival prize-winner, which gave rise to Sidney Harrison choosing him as a pupil for six television piano lessons devoted to the Moonlight Sonata.
Peter entered the Royal Academy of Music at sixteen, where he was awarded the Matthew Phillimore prize, the LRAM and ARCM diplomas and later the ARAM. Constantly in demand as accompanist and ensemble player, Peter’s early appearances at the Wigmore Hall were received with critical acclaim by the national press, which led directly to concerts on the South Bank, Music Societies and broadcasts with young and established artists such as Manoug Parikian.
Acting as resident accompanist in six BBC2 programmes for distinguished young artists, contributed to his growing renown. Highlights from this period included tours of Europe and Scandinavia, as well as visits to the USA and Canada for duo recitals and educational work.
An Associated Board Examiner for twenty five years, his reputation grew as an Adjudicator and teacher. Peter counts himself fortunate to have worked with international artists including Tito Gobbi, Nathan Milstein and Pierre Bernac, resulting in artistic awareness and width of vision that he is always delighted to share and pass on to a younger generation.
Teaching at the University of Surrey, pianist in residence at London’s prestigious Centre for Young Musicians, Masterclasses and adjudicating are among his current activities. Always active as a concert giver, there are frequent appearances with his Piano Trio, the “Plaegan Piano Quartet” and many duo partners. The Accompanists’ course at Cranford Summer School is an annual event at which Peter demonstrates his communicative gifts and wide artistic interests.
