ANDREW SHERWOOD
Andrew Sherwood has performed in many parts of the world as conductor and violinist. Born and educated in Africa, he then studied violin and composition at the Royal College of Music.
As a violinist, solo performances ranged from London to Eastern Europe, the USA and Africa. He is Professor of Violin at Trinity College of Music and also adjudicates in Britain and abroad.
Besides being principal conductor and leading the orchestral team for the Brighton & Hove Music and Performing Arts, Sherwood is Musical Director of the Musicians of All Saints (specialising in unjustly neglected and contemporary composers), Director of Choirs for the University of Brighton, Conductor of Somerset County Youth Orchestra and principal conductor for European Youth Summer Music.
Forthcoming engagements include Zimbabwe to adjudicate and perform, performances and master classes in Scotland, conducting an annual course for young musicians of all standards in Sri Lanka, and part of a season with the National Youth Orchestra of Chile.
